Keg Punk 2.0 features the ability to look for and download updates when we post them! This is a huge advancement from the original (and terrible) way that we managed updates in Keg Punk 1.0. It's kind of a no-brainer, but your Raspberry Pi needs an internet connection to be able to update, just say'n.
JUMP TO SECTION:
BACK UP DATA
You will not lose any data when you run an update, but always back up your data as a precaution.
In the OPTIONS tab, click VIEW FILES. In the pop-up, get the path to the KegPunk folder where your data files are stored. Unless you have changed the location, the path will always be:
Open up File Manager and navigate to the path from above, you should see the KegPunk folder there. Make a copy in the same location and name it "KegPunk Back-Up + Date". Now you have a complete back-up in case something goes wrong with the update. This is a good thing to do in general, even if you are not updating.
Whenever you start Keg Punk, it will check to see if you have the latest version. If there is a newer version, you will get a prompt to update. Click NO to continue running the current version, or YES to download the update.
After the update process runs, you'll get a confirmation message. Keg Punk needs to close down and you will need to restart it for the changes to take effect.
MANUALLY CHECK FOR UPDATES
On the OPTIONS tab, there's a CHECK FOR UPDATES button. Use this if you generally leave your Keg Punk station on 24/7 (since Keg Punk only automatically checks for updates on start-up).
GET CURRENT VERSION
You can find the current version on the OPTIONS tab
